Where Are You?
All of you blogging buddies in Saudi Arabia have a nice chance to meet each other, especially in Ramadan. I started thinking that maybe one or two of you could be near me. I go between the Chicago, IL, and the Milwaukee, WI, area. Anyone near there?ย Care to meet?

About Marahm
At first glance, I may appear to be a middle-aged American woman with kids, grandkids, retired from a job in a hospital, gratefully relieved from the responsibilities that come with all of that. Behind the image, which is true enough, I am fairly unhinged from much of American mainstream living, having spent twelve years in Saudi Arabia, years that sprung me from societal and familial impositions, and narrow bands of truth. I have learned to embrace my identity as a seeker, an artist, and a writer.
I study Arabic and Italian language, because I love them, and I love their people. I still dream of spending more time in the Middle East and Italy, though the dreaming now seems more real than the possibilities. I am a photographer. I write, and sometimes publish, flash memoir, and now a blog or two.
I will be in the USA meeting my new Grandson later in the year. At a minimum we should chat if logistics do not allow us to meet.
American Bedu
I am in Iran and i’ve had a great Iftar, with my Iranian bloggy friends.. ๐
Nice Idea..
And it’s really difficult to read this font. I had to copy in notpad to be able to read.. :”)
American Bedu: Yeah! Let me know when, and I’ll give you my phone number by email.
Shahi: Thanks for telling me about the font. I like using different fonts, but in the future will not use the more elaborate ones like this.
I’ve not met anyone in Riyadh! Waaah!
What?! Is Dar Aththikr still in operation? That was the large and wonderful school/social organization for non-Arabic speaking Muslim women. Most of the women were permanent residents, and plenty of them were Arabic speakers, but the gist of the group was to teach Islam and Arabic to expats. If you can connect, go there. You’ll make many new friends very quickly.
I mean I never met any fellow bloggers… I do have friends here in Riyadh though. ๐
Yes the Dar Al-dhikr is still in operation.
Ah! I’m glad you have friends, and I’m glad Dar al-dhikr is still in operation. I hope it is still as active as it was in the 90s.
Umm Ibrahim…would I qualify as a blogger in Riyadh for you to meet? (smile)
I think so Bedu! After Ramadan would be nice. ๐
consider it done! Email me please and I’ll give you contact data.
I will actually be in Chicago between 9-24 and 9-30 visiting the Sufi khaniqah and my children. You are most welcome to come to khaniqah on Thursday night, 9-25 if you wish ๐
Ya Haqq!
Wow, thank you, Iriving! If I can rearrange my work schedule, I accept your invitation with pleasure. I’ll contact you via email.
Well…by mid October I hope to be in Texas…somewhat near Dallas…anyone around that area?
I’m of Oak park, Illinois. I love to host. let me know via e-mail if you’re interested please. Thanks
Thank you, Man Of color. You’ve posted here only twice, so I do not know you well enough to accept your invitation at this time.
Will you be leaving Bahrain for good and going to Texas Coolred or is it just a visit?? I won’t be in Texas of course, just nosy. ๐
Will be going for good…21 plus year in Bahrain is more than enough. …it was enough quite a few years back…lol.
I’m really glad to hear that youwill be able to go home at last. I didn’t realise it had been 21 years for you in Bahrain… ๐ฏ
